What equipment do we need to hike on Gran Canaria?
As already mentioned before, you get on our hikes:
- As much water as you need
- Vegetarian Sandwich (wholewheat bread with avocado, salad, tomato, cucumber and cheese)
- Hiking poles
- Pick-up and drop-off from your Hotel
Therefore, the only thing you have to pay attention to is good footwear! Shoes that have a good profile or sole are a must on all our hikes. The hiking guide will check the footwear during the morning pick-up. If you don't have proper footwear with you, you can also borrow professional hiking boots from us, for €5 the pair.
Of course, it is also important that we bring the right clothes. In the summer months from May to September, we always have a warm weather, which remains between 22º and 30º. Therefore, it is a good idea to take a head protection with you and of course enough sunscreen. On the Roque Nublo hike, you can also take a jacket with you in case it could get a little colder. We can then determine this on the morning of the hike, and everything we do not use will be left in the vehicle. In our winter season from October to April, you should definitely take something extra to wear on every hike in Gran Canaria. It is easy to underestimate the weather of the island, and can quickly come across 8º on the Roque Nublo. That's why warm clothes are a must!
If the weather does not cooperate, the hike will not be cancelled under any circumstances. We at hiking world always have an alternative hike ready just in case and enjoy nature on a sunny day.
